Starting this academic year (2025-2026), garage parking will be reserved for graduate students whose academic and instructional responsibilities require consistent access to campus facilities.
While undergraduate students will no longer have access to garage parking, IU Bloomington offers an array of alternative transportation options, including campus shuttles, bike racks, buses, and ride share options.
Graduate students are invited to join the 2025 garage permit waitlist which includes the opportunity to rank the Atwater Avenue, Henderson, Poplars, and Forrest Avenue garages in order of preference. Garage permits are $250 each and are valid through Jan. 18, 2026.
Key Waitlist Information
Garage permits will be awarded starting Friday, August 29, 2025, through your IU email. If you are interested in a garage permit, check your email frequently starting on that day.
If you receive a garage permit offer email, purchase the permit in the IU Parking Portal prior to the deadline listed in the email.
Deadlines will not be extended; inaction will activate an offer to the next person on the waitlist.
Garage permits must be picked up in person from the IU Parking Office in the Henderson Parking Garage (310 S. Fess Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47401). Permits not picked up within one week of purchase will be returned and offered to the next person on the waitlist.
